TOUR DESCRIPTION:
Bike through
the Southern Etruscan land and discover small medieval villages perched
on rocky precipices. Explore the monumental necropolis of Tarquinia and
Vulci, and spend a day in Tuscania, a characteristic medieval town surrounded
by ancient walls and towers. Visit its unaltered historical center which
is kept alive by its quaint and very old craftsmanship of traditional ceramics.
Ride across old bandit villages of Tolfa Mounts surrounded by pasturelands,
and explore the wilderness of the Nature Reserves while enjoying beautiful
panoramas and relaxing in natural warm thermal springs. You can visit the
rock necropolis hidden away amid spectacular gorges and ravines of tufa
rock and come across the most desolated and solitary region, the Maremma,
where you are able to loose contact with time. Bike across gently undulated
terrain and end your biking trip on the beautiful Tuscan coastline in the
fishing village of Talamone.
This
tour is ideal for bikers who are willing to discover minor but not less
interesting parts of Italy. Wild areas, archeological sites, and non-tourist
towns await you on this peculiar tour.
On request you can add other 2 biking days (loop rides) with 2 night stays
in Bracciano and in Tuscania (bike day includes Tarquinia Necropolis with
Etruscan Frescoes).
Level of difficulty :
Moderate level of fitness. There are some short steep tracts on a couple
of days. On one day you will have to face a 13 km up-hill stretch. Longest
day distance 55 km (available also shorter route 38 km). For
