DESCRIPTION:
Venture
beyond Rome's confines and bike following the last tract of Via Francigena
the oldest road that for centuries connected Canterbury with Rome. Enjoy
the
beautiful countryside of Northern Latium skirting around the shores of its
3 volcanic lakes - Bracciano, Vico and Bolsena. Explore this rich landscape
that is characterized by scattered medieval villages perched on tufa-rock
cliffs often dominated by Renaissance palaces. Enjoy the beaches while cycling
through one of the most hidden and unknown parts of Italy. Ride up and down
the rolling hills of Val D'Orcia in Tuscany, guarded by hamlets and imposing
medieval fortresses. Enjoy 2 days in the most enchanting landscapes around
Siena, characterized by vineyards, cypress trees and history, while visiting
historical towns such as: Pienza, Montepulciano and Montalcino. End your
tour in Siena and mender around the narrow streets of this town, flanked
by ancient houses, arches and galleries, and enjoy an evening savoring the
true flavors of the Tuscan cuisine.
THIS TOUR IS POSSIBLE ONLY FOR GROUPS OF MIN. 4 OR MORE BIKERS
Randotrek's
special tour for groups of friends or bike clubs, seeking for an extensive
route that includes other than classic destinations of Tuscany also towns
and areas out of the beaten track. Pick any date between 1st of April and
30th of November.
Level
of difficulty :
Good level of fitness and endurance. Frequent steep slopes of 3/4 km
are present on this tour, and 2 days you will have to face a couple
of long up-hill stretches (avg. 10 km). Longest day distance 53 km.
