DESCRIPTION:
Bike
through the beautiful countryside of Northern Latium skirting around
the shores of the volcanic lakes located North of Rome. This area, endowed
with a heritage of Renaissance palaces and villas, manifests its incredible
history, art and culture in a fascinating and unspoiled environment.
Explore this rich landscape that is characterized by scattered medieval
villages perched on tufa-rock cliffs, and enjoy the beaches while cycling
through one of the most hidden and unknown parts of Italy. Your trip
will end in in the beautiful little town Bagnaia, where you will have
ample time to visit one of the most magnificent Italian Gardens of Italy.
You can also add a day to enjoy the main town of Tuscia Region, Viterbo
"The City of the Popes".
This tour involves the great natural environment of the volcanic lake district, cycling through the towns renowend for their past Renaissance Spendour. 2 days you will bike through hazelnut and beechwoods of the Cimini Mounts, so it is perfect for bikers that wish to tour in the hottest season. Great also in fall season (wine festivals).
Level of difficulty :
Moderate level of fitness. Due to the volcanic orography there are some short steep tracts of 3/4 km with slopes between 7-10%. Longest day distance 48 km. For detailed information on daily terrain check our tour itinerary.
