TOUR DESCRIPTION:
Bike through
the Southern Etruscan land and discover small medieval villages perched
on rocky precipices. Visit
the rock necropolis hidden away amid spectacular gorges and ravines of tufa
rock and come across the most desolated and solitary region, the Maremma,
where you are able to loose contact with time. Ride
across old bandit villages of Tolfa Mounts surrounded by pasturelands, and
explore the wilderness of the Nature Reserves while enjoying beautiful panoramas
and relaxing in natural warm thermal springs. End
your biking trip on the beautiful Tuscan coastline and
spend a day in Tarquinia, a characteristic Etruscan-medieval town surrounded
by ancient walls and towers. Visit its National Museum displaying original
Etruscan masterpieces and the renowend Etruscan tombs with frescoes.
This tour is ideal for bikers who are willing to tour though minor but not
less interesting towns of Italy. Wild areas, archeological sites, and non-tourist
towns await you on this short tour.
On request you can add other 2 biking days (loop rides) with 2 night stays
in Bracciano and in Tarquinia (bike day includes Tuscania).
Level of difficulty :
Moderate level of fitness. There are some short steep stretches on 1 day,
the rest is mostly rolling. Longest day distance 48 km. For
